Acting PNP Chief Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has assured the public that recruitment into the Philippine National Police will proceed without influence-peddling or back-door connections. According to Nartatez, the agency will adopt a “nameless, faceless” approach for applicants: there will be no padrino system, no special backers, and no favouritism in the hiring process.

He emphasised that the goal is a merit-based system — where qualifications, fitness, character, and performance matter more than who you know. This move is part of his broader push to strengthen public trust in the PNP and its recruitment procedures.
