Quezon City is ramping up its dengue prevention measures after health officials reported a worrying spike in infections, with an average of 40 new cases recorded each day.

The Quezon City Health Department (QCHD) revealed that the increase is the highest this year, prompting intensified surveillance, fumigation drives, and public awareness campaigns in affected barangays.

Mayor Joy Belmonte has directed local health centers to step up monitoring efforts, especially in densely populated areas, and to encourage residents to maintain clean surroundings to prevent mosquito breeding.

Health authorities are urging the public to regularly check for stagnant water in containers, use mosquito repellents, and seek medical attention immediately if dengue symptoms such as fever, rashes, or body pain appear.

Despite the uptick, the city government assured residents that hospitals remain equipped to handle cases and that community efforts are crucial in controlling the outbreak.
