A massive, almost perfectly round, 100-foot sinkhole suddenly appeared in a park in Alton, Illinois, this week, with the alarming incident captured on camera.

Footage shows a towering light pole between two sports fields being completely swallowed by the ground, followed by a cloud of dust.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. “No one was on the field at the time and no one was hurt, and that’s the most important thing,” Alton’s mayor David Goins reassured the Alton Telegraph.

Alton Parks recreation director Michael Haynes attributed the sinkhole to a “mine collapse deep underground,” pointing to a limestone mine operated by New Frontier Materials as the cause, according to NBC News.
