Legazpi City—As jobless Bicolanos scout for jobs amid Covid-19 pandemic, the SM Prime Holdings Incorporated is hiring employees for key positions a few months before the SM City Sorsogon opens in September.
Claire Hariri, SM spokesperson in Bicol said that the management is hiring new employees that could be assigned in SM City Sorsogon, the fourth chain of SM Supermalls in Bicol region.
She said that the SM City Sorsogon is hiring key positions in the so-called “malls of the future” set to open in September this year.
Among the key positions were, marketing officer, operations supervisor (Cinema) operations supervisor(snacktime), facilities supervisor, customer service assistant, operations assistants, treasury supervisor, treasury assistant and customer relations services representative (security).
The new investment in Sorsogon will provide from 8,000 to 10,000 new jobs, with the department storealone needing 2,000 local residents.
SM City Sorsogon is the gourth largest expansion project of SM Prime Holdings Incorporated in the Bicolpeninsula after the ones in Legazpi City, Naga City in Camarines Sur and Daetin Camarines Norte.
Similar to SM City Lepazpi the forthcoming SM City Sorsogon will be situated beside the LKY GrandTerminal.SM City Legazpi remains the premier and biggest mall in the Bicol region in terms of floor area.
Sorsogon plays a strategic role for SM Holdings as the province is the southernmost in Luzon and serves as a gateway to the Visayas and Mindanao.
The P4 billion SM Supermall is built on a sprawling 13-hectare property in Sorsogon City in 2019. When completed, this will be the biggest of its kind in the Bicol region in terms of land area.
The structure is typhoon and earthquake resilient that could withstand intensity 8 earthquake as prescribedby Mr. Hans Sy as member of United Nations disaster resilient (committee).
The SM Prime Holdings Inc. put up an earthquake monitoring device to monitor the intensity and capabilityof the building. It will be a two-storey structure and will be expanded to 3storeys, including a convention center.
The SM department store and supermarket will be the mall’s anchors, but SM City Sorsogon will also include state-of-the-art cinemas.
