Sta. Rosa, Laguna Rep. Dan Fernandez has put his two-month salary on the line as a reward for anyone in the Bureau of Immigration (BI) who can shed light on how former Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo managed to flee the Philippines. During the seventh House Quad Committee hearing, which extended into early Saturday, Fernandez expressed his frustration over possible lapses at the BI that may have aided Guo’s escape in July.

“I’ll be offering my two-month salary to anyone in the BI who can point us to how Alice Guo slipped out through our airports or seaports,” Fernandez declared.

In a Senate hearing on September 9, Guo revealed that she and her supposed siblings, Wesley and Shiela, escaped by sea, boarding a yacht at a port in Metro Manila. They later transferred to a larger boat and were eventually smuggled into Malaysia, claiming no help from Filipino officials.

Fernandez’s offer aims to expose any negligence or corruption within the BI that could have facilitated Guo’s escape.
