Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has been fined $35,000 following his ejection during Thursday night’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers, the team announced Saturday.

The three-time All-Star guard was tossed from the game with 5:21 remaining in the third quarter of Minnesota’s 111-102 loss after receiving his second technical foul. Following his ejection, Edwards delayed leaving the court and threw the basketball into the crowd, leading to the hefty fine.

In addition to the fine, the NBA also suspended Edwards for one game without pay after he reached 16 technical fouls for the season. As a result, he missed the Timberwolves’ 117-116 loss to the Utah Jazz on Friday.

Edwards, 23, leads Minnesota in scoring this season, averaging 27.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.6 assists in 58 starts. Since being drafted first overall in 2020, he has posted career averages of 23.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.2 assists over 360 games.
