However, the team soon found its rhythm and dominated the second quarter, outscoring their opponents by ten points to secure a 44-36 lead by halftime. The momentum stayed with the Philippine squad, who managed to extend their lead to a significant 16 points in the dying minutes of the match.
Andre Roberson was at the forefront of the victory, delivering an impressive performance that nearly earned him a double-double, with 18 points and nine rebounds. He was not alone in his standout performance; Dwight Howard also made a substantial contribution with a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds.
