Legazpi City – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Bicol grounded all seacrafts in Bicol following Tropical Depression Rosal affecting the region.
Trips of all vessels plying from Virac and San Andres seaports in Catandaunes bound to Tabaco and Bacacay seaports in Albay, and vice versa are cancelled after Tropical Storm Warning Signal No.1 was hoisted by weather state bureau, CG Lt. Esperanza B. Lazaro, PCG commander of Catanduanes said.
Similarly, fishing boats, motorized boats and other small water crafts are not allowed to venture out at sea.
Following the bad weather disturbance, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (RDRRMC) in Bicol reported a total of 43 passengers stranded in various seaports of Bicol.
While eight rolling cargoes and eight sea vessels are stranded at the ports of Albay and Catanduanes.
In Tabaco seaport, at least 33 persons bound for Catanduanes were stranded including 8 rolling cargoes and 3 sea vessels.
In Legazpi Port, 10 persons bound for Rapu-Rapu Island town were stranded including one sea vessel while in Virac port – one sea vessel and in San Andres port in Catanduanes 3 sea vessels.
Gremil Nas, OCD regional spokesman said that no evacuation was reported by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officers as of the 5:00 p.m. bulletin for Tropical Depression Rosal.
