Legazpi City — Tropical Storm Paeng left one dead in Masbate, one missing in Camarines Norte and four injured in Sorsogon City while P91.7 million initial damages on agriculture reported in Bicol by the Office of Civil Defense on Sunday here.
Gremil Alexis Naz, OCD Bicol spokesman said that there are reported dead in Mandaon, Masbate; one missing in Mercedes, Camarines Norte and four injured in Sorsogon City.
The reported dead and missing are subject for validation by DILG and the injured are for validation by DOH.
Paeng also destroyed 74 houses in Masbate and Sorsogon. As to damages on agriculture, the Department of Agriculture regional office reported at least P91,701,291.00
Based on the partial damage report of DA Bicol the damage to agriculture and fisheries (in Albay, Camarines Sur, Masbate and Sorsogon) amounted to ₱ 91,701,291.00.
Albay incurred damages and affected 1,023 farmers 821.40 partially damaged; 27.20 totally damaged; 848.60 total 1,298.48 metric tons losses or an equivalent of P22,074,116.41.
Camarines Sur registered at least 8,159 farmers affected wherein 4,466.68 partially damaged; 577.65 totally damaged; or a total of 5,044.33 with 3,255.22 metric tons losses worth P65,321,871.45 for rice. For high valued crops, the province reported P130,000 or a total of P66, 587, 740.63
In Masbate province, the provincial government reported damages on fisheries worth P2,910,000.00; Sorsogon posted P104,433.96 high valued crops and P25,000.00 on fishery.
On infrastructure, the province of Camarines Sur reported an initial
P1,400,000.00 worth of damages to local infrastructures (bridge and flood control) in Caramoan town.
Eight occurrences of landslide incidents were reported wherein 5 are from Camarines Sur, two are from Sorsogon and one from Catanduanes.
The Office of Civil Defense also reported a total of 28,462 families or 111,579 individuals in Bicol are evacuated inside the evacuation camps while
2,258 families or 9,002 persons are still staying in shelters outside evacuation centers.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reported a total of ₱ 609,970.00 worth of assistance provided to the affected communities through the local government units.
The DSWD regional office also provided a total of 986 family food packs amounting to P538,665.00 to the evacuees in the provinces of Camarines Norte, Albay and Catanduanes.
The LGUs have provided hot meals for the stranded persons in the ports of Matnog and Del Gallego border amounting to P71,305.00.
A total of 2952 persons and 904 rolling cargoes are stranded in the ports due to the weather disturbance.
Additionally, there are 1703 persons, 7 buses, 349 trucks and 223 light vehicles stranded along Maharlika Highway going to Matnog Port.
As of today, the Philippine Coast Guard in Bicol give a green light allowing the inter-island trips in Tabaco-Catanduanes vice versa, Matnog Sorsogon to Align Sat vice versa and Pilar Sorsogon to Masbate vice versa.(Raydes B. Barcia)
