Around 1.4 million households, primarily in the Visayas region, experienced power outages due to the heavy rain and strong winds brought by Typhoon Tino on Wednesday, according to reports.

Electricity distributors say that the outages are largely caused by downed transmission lines, toppled poles and flooding affecting substations. Restoration efforts are underway but officials warn that full recovery will take time in remote areas.

Local governments and utility companies are coordinating to ensure priority services—such as hospitals, evacuation centres and communication hubs—get restored first. Residents are advised to prepare for continued power interruptions by charging essential devices, keeping flashlights ready and avoiding flooded electrical installations.
