Presidential son William Vincent “Vinny” Marcos, with the Mati Watersports Association (MWA) and the United Philippine Surfing Association (UPSA), paid a courtesy call to Mati City, Davao Oriental Mayor Michelle Nakpil-Rabat Monday morning, March 20.
Vinny Marcos was accompanied by the UPSA President George Canlas, the UPSA Secretary-General Gino Canlas, the MWA President Peter Ocdenaria, and MWA members Jun Plaza, Bayogyog, Panggoy, Upaw Jimenez, and Gabby Sibala, among others.
The meeting focused on the establishment of a national surf leg in Mati, the launch of a grassroots surfing program, and the development and certification of qualified surf instructors to teach surfing.
This would also empower locals to develop their own surfing culture, which they could then share with the rest of the world.
Additionally, Marcos and Rabat discussed future plans for the Mati Airport, the construction of skateparks, and reliving past histories between their families.
Since January of this year, Marcos has worked as a special assistant to his uncle, House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
