Vice President Sara Duterte has left the deliberation of the Office of the Vice President’s (OVP) proposed P2 billion budget for 2025 entirely to the discretion of the House of Representatives. In a letter addressed to Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Adiong, the designated sponsor of the OVP’s budget, Duterte stated that all necessary documents had been submitted to the House Committee on Appropriations.

Duterte’s letter, dated September 11 and received on September 16, also indicated that she had informed House Speaker Martin Romualdez and Committee Chair Zaldy Co of the decision.

The House is in its second week of discussions on the proposed P6.352-trillion national budget for 2025, with final approval expected on Wednesday, September 25. The OVP’s budget, along with those of other agencies, was scheduled for plenary debate on Monday. It remains unclear if Duterte will personally attend the session.
