Vice President Sara Duterte sent her heartfelt wishes to cardiologist Doc Willie Ong, who is currently battling cancer. In a letter shared by Ong on Facebook, Duterte praised his perseverance and hope, calling his fight against sarcoma an inspiration.
“I extend my heartfelt support and wish you a speedy and complete recovery,” Duterte wrote. She added that her mother, Elizabeth, has been praying for Ong’s healing after watching him on YouTube.
Ong, who announced he has a 16 x 13 x 12 cm sarcoma near his heart and spine, expressed gratitude for Duterte’s kind words. He also shared that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had sent his well-wishes through a representative.
Ong and Duterte were both candidates in the 2022 vice-presidential race.
