A woman in Las Piñas became the center of social media debate after a video showed her standing in a cemetery parking space to reserve it for her relatives, who included elderly parents and a child. The incident occurred on the evening of All Saints’ Day, November 1, causing a heated exchange with other visitors and stirring public reaction online.
In the widely circulated video, the woman, dressed in a pink top, can be seen on the phone while another woman in an SUV yells at her to leave the spot. The woman in pink eventually stepped away after being physically confronted by a third woman. The incident briefly caused congestion in the area, leading a parking attendant to intervene.
Reflecting on the episode, the woman expressed regret and asked the public to stop re-uploading the video, saying, “I’m sorry, and both sides have already resolved this.”
While there is no law explicitly prohibiting someone from reserving a parking space by standing in it, Attorney Mario Luna, a law professor, explained that her actions could be deemed “public intimidation” and may carry potential legal consequences if it’s perceived as obstructing public space.
Police Captain Orlando Quintero, Officer-In-Charge at Las Piñas Police’s Zapote Substation, commented on the situation, saying that such actions create unnecessary commotion and can obstruct the flow of traffic.
The woman clarified that her intent was to secure a convenient space for her elderly parents and children but has since expressed regret over the approach.
